Statement:

A woman’s identity is comprised of what she wears, how she looks, how she acts and what she doesn’t say. Boxed in by so many expectations and standards, it leads women in only one direction, oppression. My whole life, I’ve been corrected and fixed, told what to say, who to serve, how to be, and what I can not do. However, I could never become what I do not understand, and I do not understand why being a woman of such limitations is marketed as rewarding. Rejection is the visualization of the constant inner turmoil between who I am and who I felt I needed to be. These photographs are the representation of my rejection of stereotypical femininity as a concept and my embrace of who I intend to be.
